i agree, in the short-term a trade or 2 will be needed to fix the defense.

supposedly they are looking at moving the ahl team to Tucson.

long-term, hopefully better oversight of their ahl affilliate can improve player development. pretty crappy how bare bones they are when it comes to defenders right now.

fowler if available will fetch more than what is being offered.

same with pysyk, why does buffalo move him for 3rd rd pick? he would be part of a bigger deal for the sabres is my guess.

brennan i would agree. seems odd he has never really had a fair shake.played ok with florida a few years back.

unless just motivated by $$$ shattenkirk would not go to arizona.

since its for fun all good.

How about mark striet, shcultz or MDZ from the flyers?

Shattenkirk: Not nearly strong enough of an offer for a solid R Dman. He is worth a blue chip like Domi/Duclair and picks
Pysyk: Not near strong enough of an offer. He is a top 4 Dman who has played those reduced games from injuries and development the last 2 season respectively.
Fowler: Again, not good enough. See Shattenkirk
TJ Brennan: Wouldn't hurt to go for it, but again, not a well formulated offer. Why would you assume the #1 Dman in the AHL is 1) so easily available or 2) a top line AHLer that everyone else has figured out is lacking at the big league level.

Best to wait for FA and overpay Kyle Quincy, or pony up with real offer.

I wonder how many will pass over the disclaimer regarding the plausibility of your trade proposals

The interesting thing for me is if the team strictly addresses the defense, and maybe not even to the extent you've gone (say half those moves) how much of an impact it would have on the forwards and goaltending position. It would really be validation of possession analytics if things went extremely well.

I do hope they moves similar to those anyways and return to competing for the playoffs

Yes for sure their current AHL and even junior prospects for defense are brutal.

Like, I said, I'd pay more for Fowler. I don't have any interest in those Flyers cast offs and I thought a 3rd for Pysyk might be low relative to his real value, but those kind of low-impact players tend to be extremely undervalued.

If Buffallo wanted more I would be pleasantly surprised and I'd pay it.

Ugh....never fails. I will say this though, Brennan is a UFA.

I think better D equals better goalie for sure and probably increased point production out of the forwards. Domi and Duclair both got around 50 points but if they didn't have half the roster incapable of making a pass at the NHL level they'd probably have a lot more.

Bob MacKenzie isn't even a good writer and all his information is fed to him through the network - if he quit tomorrow whoever replaced him would be equally as good but look less like Jay Leno.

Considering my resources, I am a far more effective than MacKenzie on a /60 basis. Factor in my simple yet effective Norman Mailer-esque prose style and I am essentially the most underrated blogger in the league.

schultz is complete garbage, no?

i think streit or MDZ wouldn't be bad stop-gap options if the flyers weren't looking for too much.

I would rather Fowler traded to the Leafs. I would talk JVR in a package for Fowler. Not sure who else would be involved but we have the forwards going forward now we need the D.

JVR for Fowler or Theordore makes sense for both teams for a number of reasons. I totally agree here.

McKenzie is a good writer, and worked his way up for almost 40 years to get to where he is today. In fact he's probably one of the most successful THN alumni out there.

Also, you're 1000000x better than Garth.

How can Arizona trade Chicago's first? is that not Winnipeg's now?

Not really. I really, really, really like Yandle. I'd probably be extremely pumped if they got him, but if I put aside what I want to happen, I don't think it's the right move for the team to go back in time like that.

But then again, sports is about fun and Yandle back in his proper uniform would be fun. I don't know. Sometimes it's hard to be a fan and an analyst. He's incredibly underrated and yet also expensive and aging.

I realize this is the worst answer ever. Yesno?!

Thanks but that was a joke. To be clear, I love Bob McKenzie.

Pretty sure it wasn't that long ago (maybe last off-season) that you were talking about how great and hopeful the Yotes D looked...

tough one. i hear you on the expensive/aging.

hard for the yotes to attract FA's, but it seems like once guys are down here, they appreciate the lifestyle and come back.

my best guess is yandle goes home (boston), goes to california or has some interest in coming back to AZ.

If he is interested in re-signing, i don't think the yotes can pass up the opportunity.
